French To Rejoin Performance Tech

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. — Performance Tech Motorsports is closing out the season with a driver lineup shakeup featuring team veteran James French.

After a brief hiatus from the LMP3 realm, French is back with Performance Tech Motorsports for the IMSA Fastlane Sportscar Weekend Aug. 4-7 at Road America.

French will take the reins of the No. 38 CardioAccess Ligier JSP320 at his home track in pursuit of the team’s first win of the 2022 season.
Team Principal Brent O’Neill is thrilled to welcome back the Wisconsin native, a longstanding member of the Performance Tech family.

“It’s really great to have James back” O’Neill said. “We’ve done so much with him over the years, from dominating championships to winning streaks, it’s like having a member of the family back. He meshes with everyone so naturally and is so at home at Road America, I know his addition to the weekend is going to be a big move.”

French raced with the team intermittently for nearly a decade, most notably playing a role in the team’s 2017 IMSA WeahterTech Sportscar Championship and IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup Championship titles

“I’m ecstatic to be reuniting with Performance Tech to compete in my home race at Road America in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship,” French said. “This will be the first IMSA race since winning the Petit Le Mans last season in LMP2, and I’m confident we will be fighting for a strong result here as well. It will be my maiden voyage in the EVO version of the Ligier JS P320, so I’m excited to see how the car feels after the updates, and how well we can navigate the gigantic GT field. Thank you to Brent O’Neill and all that have made this opportunity possible.”
