Glory Days: ‘The Flying Shu’

Ron Shuman was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 2003 after a tremendous career in open-wheel racing.

Shown (photo) here qualifying at Ohio’s Limaland Motorsports Park during a 1991 California Racing Ass’n event, Shuman won four CRA championships and another four titles when the club gave way to the Sprint Car Racing Ass’n.

Shuman won the Knoxville Nationals in 1979 and countless races across the country, including with USAC and the World of Outlaws, during a career that spanned 25 years.
