Glory Days: Saldana Rules Ohio Speedweek

Joey Saldana secured the 1997 Ohio Speedweek sprint car title in spectacular fashion.

During the final night of the weeklong event sanctioned by the All Star Circuit of Champions, Saldana drove his Brad Gray sprint car from 12th on the grid and held off fast-closing Frankie Kerr to claim the $10,000-to-win feature that wrapped up the 15th annual Speedweek at Attica (Ohio) Raceway Park.

It was Saldana’s fourth victory of the season.

Five different drivers triumphed during seven nights of action.
