GLORY DAYS: Rich Vogler Tames Salem

Rich Vogler dominated a 30-car midget field as the American Racing Series hosted a midget and sprint car doubleheader at Indiana’s famed Salem Speedway.

Driving Bob Lowe’s No. 74 midget, Vogler set a midget track record during qualifying with a 17.332-second lap of the high-banked half-mile track.

Vogler lapped up to fifth-place in the feature, beating Jim Keeker and Mel Kenyon to the checkered flag.

Doug Saunier won the combined sprint car and supermodified feature.
