Glory Days: Gaerte On The Road With The Outlaws

The son of engine builder Earl Gaerte, Joe Gaerte raced on the road with the World of Outlaws for 10 seasons, winning 10 features along the way.

Here he is pictured aboard the Two Winners Racing machine owned by Bob Kramer and Tom Wimmer at Ohio’s Fremont Speedway. Gaerte finished second to Stevie Smith on this night. However, the previous night, he picked up one of his two victories during the 1993 campaign at Ohio’s Attica Raceway Park.

Gaerte finished 14th in the standings in 1993.

His best season with the Outlaws was in 1991 when he won three times and finished third in the standings. He was also third in the standings in 1990.

Gaerte currently prepares the Alex Bowman Racing sprint cars.
