GLORY DAYS: Bliss Shows Gamester The Way

Mike Bliss showed Russ Gamester the path to victory and the veteran racer followed it to win the USAC Silver Crown Series event at Pennsylvania’s Nazareth Speedway on May 5, 2001.

Gamester was running second behind leader Kasey Kahne when Bliss showed him a faster line, which paved the way to victory.

“Bliss got into me and we were going into turn three and got me a little sideways,” Gamester explained. “That was where I wanted to be so I got on Kasey.

“The car stuck real good and I just drove out and was leading. It doesn’t matter how many laps you lead. There’s only one lap in the race that counts. You can lead 99 laps and another guy wins the race that that is it.”

Kahne finished second, with Bliss third.
