Mickey Thomas Secures Season Opening Win at Dirt City

LENA, WI — The season opening races for the Amsoil Championship Off Road Racing Series in Lena, Wisconsin at Dirt City did not disappoint the fans. Everyone was treated to door to door racing short course is known for.

 

 

In the Pro-2 class, Ricky Gutierrez started out front on the first lap. He held that position for several laps before Mickey Thomas came knocking on his back door. Gutierrez had steam coming out of his truck indicating things were getting hot. Literally! Gutierrez was able to get the truck cooled down temporarily during the mandatory caution. Thomas put the hammer down and the two drivers swapped lead positions bringing the crowd to their feet. The heat got the best of Gutierrez giving Thomas the lead and season opening win.

In Pro-4, the “Wildman” Adrian Cenni put on a show for the fans. Swapping the lead back and forth with Jimmy Henderson, Cenni came out on top for a podium. Henderson and Johnny Greaves would make contact allowing Andrew Carlson to get by and claim the second podium spot.

Johnny Holtger cruised to an easy Pro-Lite win for his first race of the season. In Pro-Buggy, Dave Mason Jr. returned to the class after ten years and proved he still had what it takes leading the race after first lap and never looking back!

Next stop for the series is June 8-9 in Anitgo, WI.
