Power Rankings: Verstappen On Top, Byron Falls

It’s time for a new edition of SPEED SPORT Power Rankings. Who will be on top this week?

1. Max Verstappen

Three-time Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen picked up where he left off last season with a dominant victory in the season-opening Grand Prix of Bahrain. The Oracle Red Bull Racing driver finished over 22 seconds ahead of the field. 

2. Tyler Courtney

Tyler Courtney has won two High Limit Racing sprint car features and one World of Outlaws sprint car main event through the first three weeks of the season. The Clauson Marshall Racing driver leads the standings by 18 points over Brad Sweet.

3. Kyle Larson

Kyle Larson, a winner in High Limit sprint car competition in February, earned his first NASCAR Cup Series triumph of the season Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Larson leads the standings after three races.

4. Jett Lawrence 

Reigning SuperMotocross champion Jett Lawrence extended his point lead in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series with his third victory of the season Saturday night at Daytona Int’l Speedway. 

5. Austin Hill

Richard Childress Racing driver Austin Hill has won the first two races of the NASCAR Xfinity Series campaign and leads the standings after three races.

6. William Byron

William Byron won the Daytona 500 to open the NASCAR Cup Series season and ranks second in the standings after three races. 

7. Logan Seavey

Logan Seavey won a pair of USAC sprint car features at Florida’s Volusia Speedway Park and leads the series standings after five races. He also won the Chili Bowl Nationals for the second time this season.

8. Justin Grant

Justin Grant won three of the first five USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Championship races this season, all at Florida’s Ocala Speedway.

9. Matt Sheppard

Matt Sheppard added a pair of Super DIRTcar Series triumphs to the three Short Track Super Series races he won the previous week, giving him five victories on the season. His first of two scores at Volusia Speedway Park, was the 500th of his career.

10. Matt Hirschman

With three tour-type modified victories, including the Richie Evans Memorial, Matt Hirschman secured his fifth World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing title at Florida’s New Smyrna Speedway.
