Verstappen Sets Practice Pace In Mexico City

MEXICO CITY — Max Verstappen once again found himself at the top of the timesheets following Friday’s free practice sessions for the Mexico City Grand Prix.

The Red Bull Racing driver set a blazing pace of 1 minute, 18.686 seconds at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

“I think it was a positive start to the weekend, of course, it wasn’t plain sailing out there today, there are always a few things to improve. You can see that the track is very slippery and the tires were difficult to manage in the long runs, so there are still a few things that we can work on,” Verstappen said.

McLaren’s Lando Norris was closest in pursuit, filing a fast lap of 1 minute, 18.805 seconds.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc was third, with Alfa Romeo’s Valtteri Bottas and Red Bull Racing’s Sergio Perez completing the top five. Daniel Ricciardo, Lewis Hamilton, Esteban Ocon, Oscar Piastri and George Russell rounded out the top 10 in practice.
