SHEHEEN: Get The SPEED SPORT 1 App

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Have you downloaded the SPEED SPORT 1 app?

Versions for Apple TV, Apple iOS, Android and Amazon Fire have all launched and are ready to go. Choose the app that works best for your connected devices. Once downloaded, you will have direct access to the 24/7 SPEED SPORT 1 motorsports network.

One can also access SPEED SPORT 1’s live feed via any web browser. Simply go to speedsport1.com and hit “LIVE PREVIEW.” Most smart TVs have a built-in browser and a lot of fans simply stream the network on their phone and cast it to their TV.

Like our sister network Outdoor America, available in more than 200 million homes, SPEED SPORT 1 will eventually be available on all major streaming TV platforms. But as we continue to work toward securing those deals (which take time), the app is the way to go.

SPEED SPORT 1 features some of the best live racing content from around the globe, including DTM, Fanatec GT World Challenge, the Australian Supercar Championship, European Le Mans Series, Ultra4, Australian Pro Motocross and more. And it’s all free. No subscription. No fees. No signup.

Since the network went live in June, SPEED SPORT1 has aired more than 290 hours of live racing from 172 events. Among the highlights was live coverage of the 54th Polaris Crandon World Championship off-road races and the prestigious Red Bull World Cup.

Not only do we have tons of live racing coverage, we also have a tremendous amount of taped content, including the popular SPEED SPORT “Prime Cuts.” This program features highlights of American grassroots racing selected weekly from more than 100 SPEEDSPORT.TV streaming affiliates.

An aggressive catalog of originals and studio productions, including two new shows we’re really excited about, will launch soon. “The Ralph Sheheen Show” — hosted by yours truly — includes long-form interviews, opinion and analysis. It will premiere soon and air weeknights in prime time. And “Race Night Live” — our take on “NFL Red Zone” for racing, will launch next spring with the 2024 racing season.

For nearly 90 years, SPEED SPORT has been the most trusted source for racing news and information. Now, as we prepare for our 90th season in 2024, we are ready to bring you the best in motorsports television as only SPEED SPORT can. And we’ve got even more big news and new partnerships coming as well, so be sure to stay connected.

Download the SPEED SPORT 1 app and get your friends to do it, too. Then, sign up for our Daily e-newsletter for racing headlines, tune-in guides and more.

And did I mention, it’s free?

For racers, having your helmet painted is a form of self-expression, as well as an opportunity to include some personal sponsor logos.

A lot of time, effort and thought goes into designing and painting helmets these days. Especially in the higher levels of the sport where a driver might use a different helmet every week due to sponsor obligations or personal marketing opportunities.

Trying to get helmets designed and painted in time for race day can be very expensive and time consuming. The folks at American Racing Design have moved away from the traditional painting process for helmets. Just like with the race cars, they are doing wraps for helmets. Anything you can do with paint on a helmet, American Racing Design can do with a wrap.

The designs look fantastic and the quality of the workmanship is first class. You would never know the difference if someone didn’t tell you it was a wrap.

The next time you need your helmet painted, try a wrap and call the folks at American Racing Design. Check them out at americanracingdesigns.co and tell them you heard about them from SPEED SPORT.

Davey Hamilton Jr. called recently to report that entry blanks are flowing in for his $50,000-to-win Open Wheel Showdown. The event is scheduled Dec. 1-2 at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Winged 410 sprint cars will headline and battle for the 50-grand top prize. Midgets and West Coast supermodifieds will round out an action-packed program.

Hamilton says he has more than 60 sprint cars entered and will cap the field at 75 cars, which he fully expects to have. He also expects to have 30-plus midgets and at least 20 supermodifieds.

Notable drivers in the sprint car category already entered include Kody Swanson, Bobby Santos III, Tyler Roahrig and Hamilton.
