Xfinity Series Qualifying Canceled, Hill On Pole

Rain at Iowa Speedway has canceled Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series qualifying, which places Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Hill on the pole.

With the session canceled, the lineup for Saturday’s Hy-Vee Perks 250 was set by NASCAR’s performance metric system.

Hill is set to start alongside the series’ most recent winner at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway winner, Shane van Gisbergen. The Kaulig Racing driver, however, will drop to the rear of the field due to switching to a backup car. SVG crashed his primary No. 97 Chevrolet in practice on Friday.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Sheldon Creed starts third with JR Motorsports’ Justin Allgaier and Sam Mayer completing the top five.

Chander Smith, Cole Custer and John Hunter Nemechek follow suit in sixth through eighth, while RCR’s rookie Jesse Love and Big Machine Racing’s Parker Kligerman are ninth and 10th on the grid.
