Ty Gibbs Earns First Xfinity Series Pole

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. – Ty Gibbs picked up his first NASCAR Xfinity Series pole Saturday morning and will lead the field to the green flag for Saturday afternoon’s Henry 180 at Road America.

Gibbs edged last year’s race winner, Austin Cindric for the top spot on the grid late in the qualifying session.

Gibbs’ fastest lap was 107.532 mph, ahead of Cindric’s 107.475 mph effort.

A.J. Allmendinger, the 2013 race winner, will start third. Daniel Hemric qualified fourth and Kyle Busch rounded out the top five.

The race starts at 2:30 p.m. eastern Saturday.

This is the 12th annual Xfinity Series race at Road America. There hasn’t been a repeat winner in the previous 11 attempts. There have also been five first-time winners – Nelson Piquet Jr., Allmendinger, Brendan Gaughan, Michael McDowell and Jeremy Clements.

In addition to Cindric and Allmendinger, the other previous winners in the race are Justin Allgaier and Clements.
