Mid-Ohio Xfinity Polesitter Is Austin Cindric

LEXINGTON, Ohio – Austin Cindric will lead the NASCAR Xfinity Series field to green when the B&L Transport 170 gets underway Saturday from Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Cindric, the driver of the No. 22 Ford Mustang for Team Penske, received the pole for the Drydene 200 courtesy of the highest metric score among the 40 cars entered to compete.

Lap speed is weighted at 15 percent, previous race finish at 25 percent for the driver and owner results and owner points position at 35 percent to calculate the final metric score.

Cindric earned the pole with a metric score of 2.25, factoring in his recent second-place finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the sixth-fastest lap from that event and his top seeding in the point standings after 12 of 33 races this season.

He’ll be joined on the front row by Charlotte winner Ty Gibbs, a two-time victor this season, with cousins Harrison Burton and Jeb Burton starting third and fourth, respectively.

Justin Allgaier rounds out the top five starters, followed by Brandon Brown, Brandon Jones, Jeremy Clements, Riley Herbst and Justin Haley.
