For the first time this season, Sheldon Creed will start on pole for Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway.
Creed, aboard the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, topped JR Motorports’ Brandon Jones by 0.298 seconds to earn top spot at the 2.5-mile triangle-shaped track.
Jones’ teammate Justin Allgaier followed in third, ahead of two Toyotas of Taylor Gray (fourth) and Chandler Smith (fifth).
NASCAR Cup Series regular William Byron qualified his Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet in sixth. A pair of Fords in Ryan Sieg (seventh) and Cole Custer (eighth) followed suit.
Sammy Smith starts ninth and A.J. Allmendinger completed the top 10.
Three-time Xfinity Series winner Shane van Gisbergen starts 26th for Kaulig Racing.
