Josh Berry will lead the NASCAR Xfinity Series field to the green during Saturday’s Alsco Uniforms 302.
The JR Motorsports driver wheeled his No. 8 Chevrolet to the top of the timesheets at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, setting a fast lap of 29.671 seconds (181.996 mph) during Friday night’s qualifying session.
Stewart-Haas Racing’s Cole Custer trailed behind, qualifying second with a 29.719-second lap (181.702 mph).
Sammy Smith was third in his No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, a mere .090 seconds off Berry’s pace. Kaulig Racing’s Chandler Smith was fourth, while Jordan Anderson Racing’s Parker Retzlaff completed the top five.
Daniel Hemric, Justin Allgaier, Riley Herbst, Layne Riggs and Austin Hill completed the top 10.
Points leader John Hunter Nemechek will start 38th during Saturday’s race, as his No. 20 JGR entry was taken to the garage following practice and he was unable to qualify.
