Bayne On NASCAR Xfinity Series Pole In Homestead

HOMESTEAD, Fla. — The NASCAR Xfinity Series was given the green light for its qualifying session on Friday night at Homestead-Miami Speedway after Truck Series qualifying was canceled due to rain.

Joe Gibbs Racing driver Trevor Bayne topped the charts, earning pole position for the Contender Boats 300 with a 32.4-second lap time at a speed of 166 mph. Fellow playoff driver Noah Gragson was close behind in second and will join Bayne on the front row in Saturday’s race.

The JR Motorsports driver currently holds the points lead in the Xfinity Series championship, 19 points ahead of Ty Gibbs.

At Homestead, Gibbs recorded a best lap of 32.674 seconds to qualify third, 0.274 seconds behind Bayne.

Fourth-place qualifier Daniel Hemric was the only non-playoff driver in the top six, with Brandon Jones and Sam Mayer filing in behind him.

Sheldon Creed, Kyle Weatherman, Candler Smith and Austin Hill rounded out the top 10.
