Alfredo On Portland Xfinity Pole

In one of the most peculiar qualifying sessions the NASCAR Xfinity Series has ever seen, Anthony Alfredo will start on pole for Saturday’s race at Portland International Raceway.

With treacherous conditions due to rain, NASCAR called the qualifying session short after the first round wrapped up.

Alfredo topped the charts with a fast time of 76.071.

The pole would be the first for the No. 23 Our Motorsports team in the Xfinity Series.

“It’s huge, whether it rains or not, track position is key, because we don’t have live pit stops this week,” Alfredo said. “You just come in at the breaks for four tires and fuel, so you can’t short pit, you can’t run long. It’s critical to get that track position. Now we just got to maintain it, so getting a pole makes us one step closer.”

Austin Hill, last year’s Xfinity Series champion Daniel Hemric, Sam Mayer, and Jade Buford rounded out an all-Chevrolet top-five.
