TROIS-RIVIERES, Quebec — The 54th running of the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres through the streets of this historic Canadian city will be run this weekend with all events broadcast live on SPEED SPORT 1.
Since its beginnings, the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières has distinguished itself by hosting various car series that highlight the power, finesse, control and also the new generation of this sport. The Grand Prix has also proven itself by the proximity it provides to the racing fans.
For the 16th consecutive year, the stock cars of the NASCAR Canada Series headline the weekend’s action on the GP3R street circuit. The 60 laps of GP3R has become the race that every driver wants to win, especially those from Quebec.
Sunday’s main event is scheduled for 2:15 p.m., with coverage beginning at 2 p.m. on SPEED SPORT 1.
Marc-Antoine Camirand is the current series point leader with a 10-point advantage over Kevin Lacroix and he is also the defending winner of the GP3R. Lacroix will also be a contender for victory, as he has won the event twice.
Among the entries are former IndyCar Series drivers Alex Tagliani and Andrew Ranger. Tagliani has won three times in Trois-Rivieres, while Ranger has four victories there.
Among the other entries are Jean-Francois Dumoulin, D.J. Kennington, Alex Labbe, Ralphael Lessard, Donald Theetge and Sam Fellows. Kennington won the race in 2013.
“It’s a tough track, you have to make sure you save something for the end of the race, and being able to navigate in traffic is really important,” Kennington explained. “This event is one of the highlights of our season and I’m very proud to have won at GP3R against such tough competition.”
Also competing on the GP3R card will be the SCCC GT4/TCR Canadian Sports Car Championship, the Nissan Sentra Cup, F1600 Canada, Super Production Challenge, the Urban Challenge Chevrolet and Modified Legends. All of these events will also be broadcast on SPEED SPORT 1.
