The No. 3 team for Richard Childress Racing driven by Austin Dillon has been penalized for an L-1 Infraction following the NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway.
Dillon’s crew chief Keith Rodden has been suspended for the next two races, and fined $75,000. Both RCR and Dillon have been docked 60 points and five playoff points.
The penalty stems from an illegal underwing assembly mounting and stay assembly hardware on the No. 3 Chevrolet.
The Noco 400 at Martinsville saw Dillon finish 12th. Prior to the penalty, the 32-year-old was 21st in the standings after nine races.
NASCAR also suspended Chris Jackson (rear tire changer) and David Smith (jackman) of B.J. McLeod Motorsport’s No. 78 Cup Series team because of the loss of a tire/wheel last weekend.
NASCAR also fined three crew chiefs Mike Bumgarner, Jeff Meendering and Mike Scearce in the NASCAR Xfinity Series $5,000 apiece for lug-nut violations.
