TALLADEGA, Ala. – Persistent rain showers Sunday afternoon forced NASCAR officials to postpone the YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.
The race had already been delayed nearly two hours when teams rolled onto the track for pace laps in preparation for the start of Sunday’s race. However, after completing two pace laps it began to rain again, soaking the track and making it impossible for the race to be completed before the sun set.Â
As a result, the race will now be held Monday afternoon at 1 p.m. EST. NBCSN will broadcast the race live.Â
The YellaWood 500 is the second race in the round of 12 in the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs.
