NASCAR Issues Testing Ban Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – NASCAR officials have issued a ban on all testing not directly related to the Next Gen race car until further notice.

The ban includes, but is not limited to, wind tunnels, driver simulators, climatic tunnels and more. The ban is the result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and allows the industry to remain socially conscious and puts competitors in a position to not feel like they are at a competitive disadvantage.

The Next Gen race car is scheduled to debut next season. NASCAR had planned to test the Next Gen car at Atlanta Motor Speedway, but that test was canceled.
