NASCAR Cup Series Director Facing Animal Cruelty Charges

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Jay Fabian, the NASCAR Cup Series director, has stepped away from his duties with the sanctioning body after being charged with animal cruelty.

The charges were filed in Mecklenburg (N.C.) County. He is facing two felony counts of cruelty to animals and one misdemeanor charge of cruelty to animals. 

In a statement issued by NASCAR, officials from the sanctioning body confirmed Fabian will be stepping back from his role until the matter is resolved.

“NASCAR takes the situation seriously, and will continue to gather information as it becomes available,” the NASCAR statement read. “Jay Fabian will step back from his role until this matter is resolved. NASCAR will have no further comment.”

Fabian has been the NASCAR Cup Series director since 2019, taking over the position from Richard Buck.
