Logano Leads Qualifying In Las Vegas

Team Penske’s Joey Logano will start from pole position during Sunday’s Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The defending NASCAR Cup Series champion recorded a fast lap of 29.024 seconds at 186.053 mph, securing the prime spot on the grid for his No. 22 Ford.

“The car was wicked good. It really just handled well and obviously has really good speed which is what you hope for when you get here. You hope you make the right changes and adjustments from the fall when we were here last,” Logano said. “Obviously, we were pretty good then, but you have to keep evolving and trying things.”

Hendrick Motorsports’ William Byron will join Logano on the front row in his No. 24 Chevrolet.

The second row will be shared by Logano’s teammate Ryan Blaney, who qualified third, and Joe Gibbs Racing’s Ty Gibbs, who slid his No. 54 Toyota into fourth.

Last night’s Truck Series winner and Richard Childress Racing driver Kyle Busch qualified fifth.

Kyle Larson, Brad Keselowski, Ross Chastain, Austin Cindric and Christopher Bell completed the top 10.
