AVONDALE, Ariz. – Kyle Larson was the fastest of the four NASCAR Cup Series championship contenders during Friday’s lone practice for the NASCAR Cup Series Championship race at Phoenix Raceway.
Larson was second fastest in practice aboard his No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet with a fast lap of 135.293 mph. The only driver who was faster was Team Penske’s Brad Keselowski, who topped the overall charts at 135.384 mph.
RESULTS: NASCAR Cup Series Final Practice
Chase Elliott ranked fifth fastest overall at 135.019 mph, with Denny Hamlin timing in eighth at 134.118 mph and Martin Truex Jr. setting the slowest time of the four at 133.427 mph. Truex’s time left him ranked 18th fastest overall.
Matt DiBenedetto, making his final start for Wood Brothers Racing, was third fastest overall. Christopher Bell placed fourth in practice.
The NASCAR Cup Series will be back on track for qualifying on Saturday night at 7 p.m. ET Â
