CONCORD, N.C. – Due to COVID-19 protocols, Spire Motorsports driver Corey LaJoie will be unavailable to participate in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series FireKeepers Casino 400 and will not travel to Michigan Int’l Speedway.
NASCAR Xfinity Series race winner Josh Berry will handle the driving chores of the No. 7 NationsGuard Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE in LaJoie’s absence for Spire Motorsports this weekend.
With the addition of Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race, Berry will now compete in all three NASCAR national touring divisions this weekend. He will drive for Rackley W.A.R. in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race Friday at World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Ill., then travel to Michigan Int’l Speedway for Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race to drive the No. 1 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports in place of Michael Annett.
Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race will be Berry’s second of the season. He replaced Justin Haley in the No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet at Dover (Del.) Int’l Speedway earlier this year when Haley was sidelined due to COVID-19 protocols. He finished 30th in what was his NASCAR Cup Series debut.
The FireKeepers Casino 400 from Michigan Int’l Speedway will be televised live on NBCSN Sunday beginning at 3 p.m. E.T.
