DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – NASCAR officials announced Monday evening that Joe Gibbs Racing driver Kyle Busch will be required to undergo sensitivity training following his use of a slur typically used in reference to mentally challenged or disabled individuals.
Busch used the word during an interview with NBC Sports after Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway while detailing his late-race altercation with Brad Keselowski. He later posted an apology on social media.
He must complete sensitivity training prior to the start of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season in February. He was eliminated from the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs following Sunday’s Xfinity 500 at Martinsville.
In one of my post-race interviews I used a word I should never use and I want to apologize for it.
