MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Kaulig Racing has announced that reigning NASCAR Xfinity Series champion Daniel Hemric will compete for the team in the Daytona 500 next month.
Hemric will pilot the team’s No. 16 Chevrolet as a teammate to Justin Haley in the No. 31 Chevrolet. Hemric is guaranteed to start the race via Kaulig Racing’s charter for the No. 16 entry.
Been waiting a long time to get back to this stage. Thanks to @MattKaulig and @C_Rice1 for this opportunity. What a privilege it is to be in the Great America Race! https://t.co/VTxxM7Veak

Hemric joins Kaulig Racing this year after capturing his first NASCAR Xfinity Series championship in dramatic fashion last November with a last-lap pass of Austin Cindric in the season finale at Phoenix Raceway.Â
He has one previous Daytona 500 start, which came in 2019 while driving for Richard Childress Racing. He started 29th and finished 34th.
Hemric is one of three drivers slated to share the No. 16 for Kaulig Racing throughout the season. A.J. Allmendinger and Noah Gragson are also scheduled to drive the car in various races this year.Â
