Daniel Hemric will fill in for Ty Gibbs in the No. 23 Toyota for today’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Phoenix Raceway.
Gibbs, who won the NASCAR Xfinity Series title on Saturday, had a family emergency.
23XI Racing issued a statement on the situation.
“Due to a family emergency, Ty Gibbs will not be racing in the No. 23 Monster Energy Toyota Camry TRD today at Phoenix Raceway. In his place, Daniel Hemric will be competing in the No. 23 car today.”
Gibbs qualified 10th on Saturday, however with the driver switch, Hemric will have to start at the rear of the field.
