Cup Qualifying Canceled, Elliott On Pole

Current NASCAR Cup Series points leader Chase Elliott will start on pole for Sunday’s Quaker State 400 at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway, after rain washed out Saturday’s qualifying session.

The lineup was set based on performance metrics from the previous race (Road America). Therefor, with his pole position and second place finish at the Wisconsin road course, Elliott was awarded the pole position.

Trackhouse Racing’s Ross Chastain will start on the outside of Elliott in second position.

Behind the front row, Elliott’s teammate Kyle Larson will start third, with last week’s winner Tyler Reddick in fourth, and Daytona 500 winner Austin Cindric rounding out the top-five.

Earlier in the day, NASCAR Xfinity Series qualifying was also rained out, with Ty Gibbs being named the polesitter.
