MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Rick Ware Racing confirmed Monday morning that Cody Ware will pilot the No. 51 Biohaven Pharmaceuticals/Nurtec ODT Chevrolet Camaro during the full NASCAR Cup Series season.
Ware, who is the son of team owner Rick Ware, will begin his first full season at NASCAR’s top level on Feb. 14 during the Daytona 500 at Daytona Int’l Speedway.
“I am pumped to head to Daytona Int’l Speedway with Biohaven as our primary sponsor,” said Cody Ware. “As a person with migraines, it’s even more meaningful for me to drive the Nurtec ODT No. 51 car to raise awareness of this debilitating disease, especially at the biggest race of the year. We have a lot of exciting things planned for 2021, and I look forward to competing in the NASCAR Cup Series again.”
Cody Ware has made 51 starts across NASCAR’s three national divisions, including 23 races in the NASCAR Cup Series. His best finish came in the NASCAR Xfinity Series last year when he earned a seventh-place finish in the rain on the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL.
In addition to his NASCAR experience, Cody Ware has earned a championship during the 2020 Asian Le Mans Series season and captured the 2014 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Rookie of the Year Award.
“We are very excited that Cody will be driving the Nurtec ODT car at the NASCAR races and to be working with him to raise awareness about migraine and Nurtec ODT,” said Vlad Coric, MD, Chief Executive Officer of Biohaven. “As a person with migraines and someone who has to deal with so many migraine triggers on the race track, Cody will help elevate the conversation about the importance of an effective acute treatment for migraines.”
“We are super excited to start the season off at Daytona Int’l Speedway, where we have had some great runs in the past,” said Rick Ware. “This will be the first race as part of the Nurtec ODT partnership, and we are hoping to have a successful day on the track, and bring home a great finish for the team and our sponsor.”
