Blaney Disqualified From Cup Race At Vegas

Ryan Blaney and the No. 12 Team Penske Ford entry have been disqualified from Sunday’s South Point Casino 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway following the No. 12 failing post-race inspection.

NASCAR officials deemed the left-front shock on the No. 12 car did not meet the overall specified length outlined in Section 14.11.3.5 of the NASCAR Rule Book.

Blaney, who crossed the finish line in sixth at the end of the 267-lap race, will be relegated to a last place finish, forfeiting the eight stage points he collected in the event.

Kyle Larson scored the victory to secure a berth in the championship race at Phoenix Raceway.

One of the eight drivers competing for a spot in the Championship 4, Blaney exited the event at Las Vegas 17 points below the cutline prior to the penalty. Blaney enters the final two races in the Round of 8 with a steep 56-point hole following the penalty, pinning the No. 12 team in a must-win scenario at Homestead-Miami Speedway and Virginia’s Martinsville Speedway.
