B.J. McLeod Motorsports Debuting Cup Series Team

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – B.J. McLeod Motorsports is launching a NASCAR Cup Series program beginning this weekend at Darlington Raceway.

The team, which currently fields a three-car team in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, will field the No. 78 Chevrolet entry in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series event at Darlington Raceway.

“The number is important to me,” said team owner and driver B.J. McLeod. “I’ve been driving the No. 78 since my karting days and been able to run the number at every level of my career. I am excited to expand the team with the No. 78 into the Cup Series as a driver and an owner. As a team, our goal was to eventually move into the Cup Series, so when the opportunity presented itself, we decided it was time to take the next step. We are excited to go Cup racing.”

The team will take their first green flag at Darlington Raceway on May 17 with McLeod piloting the No. 78. It will be McLeod’s 43rd start in the Cup Series and second of the season. He competed in the Daytona 500 for Rick Ware Racing to open the season, finishing 38th.
