42 Cars On Daytona 500 Entry List

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – NASCAR officials have released the entry list for the 64th running of the Daytona 500, scheduled for this Sunday at Daytona International Speedway.

The entry list features 42 cars, with six open cars slated to battle for four available starting positions in the Daytona 500. The rest of the 36 starting positions are guaranteed to charter teams.

Drivers vying for the four available starting positions include Jacques Villeneuve (Team Hezeberg), Greg Biffle (NY Racing), Kaz Grala (TMT Racing), J.J. Yeley (MBM Motorsports), Noah Gragson (Beard Motorsports) and Timmy Hill (MBM Motorsports).

Among the 42 drivers entered in the Daytona 500 are six previous Daytona 500 winners. They include defending race winner Michael McDowell, three-time champion Denny Hamlin, Austin Dillon, Kurt Busch, Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick.

Drivers who are guaranteed to make their Daytona 500 debuts include Austin Cindric, Harrison Burton and Todd Gilliland. If Villeneuve or Gragson qualify for the Daytona 500, it would be their first starts in the Great American Race.

Daytona 500 practice begins Tuesday at 5:05 p.m. EST, with a second practice scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Daytona 500 qualifying is scheduled for Wednesday at 8:15 p.m., with the Bluegreen Vacations Duel at Daytona qualifying races taking place Thursday beginning at 7 p.m. EST.
