Zane Smith Disqualified After Homestead Truck Race

Zane Smith and the No. 38 Front Row Motorsports team have been disqualified by NASCAR following their runner-up effort in Saturday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

During post-race technical inspection, NASCAR officials found an infraction that was in violation of Section 14.4.7.I in the NASCAR Rule Book, which specifically references the windshield support. Officials indicated that the truck will be brought to the NASCAR Research & Development Center in Concord, North Carolina for further inspection.

The defending Truck Series champion lost 16 stage points he earned throughout the Baptist Health Cancer Care 200, which was won by Carson Hocevar.

Front Row Motorsports released a statement following the news.

“We are disappointed in the disqualification from today’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event.

“We will continue to work and discuss with NASCAR officials back at the NACAR R&D Center in Concord, N.C. before making any further comment.”

Smith was eliminated from playoff contention prior to the penalty after finishing 15 points below the Championship 4 cutline.
