Stewart Friesen, an accomplished dirt racer, was fastest in Friday’s first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series practice session at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Friesen posted a top speed of 92.932 mph around the dirt covered half-mile track. He recorded 47 laps in the session, which was the first of two for the series.
The top five was completed by Ben Rhodes (92.812 mph), Derek Kraus (92.612), Carson Hocevar (92.531) and Matt Crafton (92.341).
Of the four NASCAR Cup drivers entered for the event, Joey Logano was seventh, Chase Elliott was eighth, Austin Dillon was 23rd and Harrison Burton was 30th.
The session was put under the red flag seven minutes in for an incident involving Hailie Deegan.
Deegan suffered damage to her rear bumper from contact with the wall. The damage to her No. 1 Ford truck was enough to force the team to a backup.
She was seventh fastest at the time of the red flag and finished the session 10th.

Logano, making his first Truck Series start since 2015, briefly brought out the caution for a spin in Turn 2.
With about 27 minutes left, Lawless Alan went for spin. Burton, driving the No. 17 for David Gilliland Racing, also went for a harmless spin later in Turn 2.
