Heim Lands Pole Position At Mid-Ohio

Corey Heim turned the fastest lap of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series field during qualifying at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on Friday afternoon.

The TRICON Garage driver maneuvered his No. 11 Toyota around the 2.25-mile, 13-turn road course in 86.137 seconds (94.371 mph).

“Last year we set on the pole in the wet and this year in the dry. I think it’s a good showing of the hard work I’ve been putting in personally on this track — it used to be one of my worst tracks,” Heim said. “To come here and back it up from last year is a special feeling, but in the race last year, it could have gone a lot better, so to improve on that this year is a big thing for me.

“I’ve had the race circled on the calendar, so to come here and start the weekend off right is a big deal for me.”

ThorSport Racing’s Ty Majeski will join Heim on the front row in his No. 98 Ford during Saturday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 150. Majeski turned a fast lap of 86.428 seconds (94.053 mph).

Rev Racing’s Nick Sanchez was third, while McAnally-Hilgemann Racing teammates Christian Eckes and Grant Enfinger completed the top five in qualifying.

Tanner Gray, Marco Andretti, William Sawalich, Jack Wood and Zane Smith filed into the top 10.

Former NTT IndyCar Series driver Conor Daly, who is piloting the No. 41 Chevrolet for Niece Motorsports, experienced a power steering issue during practice and was unable to complete qualifying. Daly will start Saturday’s race from the rear.
