From Pole To Victory Lane: Caruth Wins Big At Las Vegas

Rajah Caruth and his No. 71 Spire Motorsports team perfectly executed the final pit stop of the night en route to winning the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Victoria’s Voice Foundation 200 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

After earning his first career pole earlier in the day, Caruth followed it up with his maiden Truck Series victory to become the third Black driver to win a NASCAR national series race, joining Wendell Scott and Bubba Wallace.

He led 38 total laps during the 134-lap race.

Tyler Ankrum, Corey Heim, Taylor Gray and Christopher Bell rounded out the fop five at the 1.5-mile oval.

“There was just a bunch we could’ve cleaned up overall, including myself,” Heim described following the race. “I was slow coming out (of the pits) on the green flag cycle and when I came out, I was racing the 18 (Ankrum) for three or four laps, and he slowed us down a bunch.

“But, huge congratulations to Rajah (Caruth). He earned every bit of that tonight. He drove his butt off and was really clean all night, put himself in position and won the race. So, big congrats to Rajah.”

Christian Eckes, Matt Crafton, Zane Smith, Grant Enfinger and Ty Majeski completed the top 10.

Majeski led the most laps at 40, sweeping the first two stages.

However, a pit-road speeding penalty late in the race cost the No. 98 Ford valuable track position, but still rallied to score a second consecutive top-10 result.
