RICHMOND, Va. — On the verge of closing out his regular-season title, Christian Eckes scored the pole for Saturday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Richmond Raceway. He turned a time of 22.755 seconds (118.655 mph) to beat out short-tracker Ty Majeski for the top spot. It’s his third pole of the season.
Grant Enfinger will start third while Layne Riggs, who needs to win for a spot in the playoffs, will start fourth. William Sawalich starts fifth while Corey Heim, who’s second in points, starts sixth. Taylor Gray will roll off seventh, Kaden Honeycutt eighth, Nick Sanchez ninth and Tyler Ankrum 10th.
Ben Rhodes, Stewart Friesen and Daniel Dye – all drivers who are fighting for the final three playoff spots on points – will start 11th through 13th, respectively.
Just one truck failed to qualify: Trey Hutchens in the No. 14 machine.
