ThorSport Wins Appeal, Crafton Gets Fifth-Place Finish

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Matt Crafton will have his fifth-place finish in the May 6 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Darlington (S.C.) restored.

Crafton and the ThorSport Racing team appealed the NASCAR penalty. Their case was heard Thursday by the National Motorsports Appeals Panel and the penalty was revoked.

The two-time Truck Series champion finished fifth, but NASCAR officials disqualified the No. 88 machine following the Dead On Tools 200 because the truck was found to be too low in the front.

However, Thursday’s three-member panel (Tom DeLoach, Dixon Johnston and Hunter Nickell) ruled “that the Appellants did not violate the Rule(s) set forth in the Penalty Notice.”

As a result, Crafton’s fifth-place finish was reinstated.

The panel’s decision is considered final.
