ARCA Suspends Daniel Dye

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Seventeen-year-old ARCA racer Daniel Dye was arrested Tuesday in Florida’s Volusia County and charged with felony battery.

On Wednesday he was suspended indefinitely from ARCA competition for violation of the ARCA Rulebook Section 12-8.1.E.2 which references ARCA Member Conduct Guidelines.

Dye, who drives for GMS Racing and currently ranks second in the ARCA Menards Series standings, was released on $2,500 bond.

The incident occurred at Father Lopez Catholic High School in Daytona Beach, Fla., and ended when Dye allegedly “punched (his classmate) in the groin area.”

The victim, who is pressing charges against Dye, was examined at a local hospital and according to the police report “was diagnosed with a possible ruptured testicle and referred to a urologist.”

GMS Racing issued a statement on Wednesday evening: “GMS Racing is aware of the current situation surrounding Daniel Dye. Daniel and the Dye family are cooperating with local law enforcement. No further comment will be made on the subject until more information becomes available.”
