ARCA Notes: Love Keeps Clicking Along

LONG POND, Pa. — Jesse Love scored his fifth victory of the season in Saturday’s Sunset Hill Shooting Range 150 at Pocono Raceway. He led 40 of the race’s 60 laps to earn his seventh career ARCA Menards Series victory.

Love moves into a tie for 56th on the ARCA Menards Series all-time win list, with Jim Cushman, two-time series champion Lee Raymond, 2009 champion Justin Lofton, and 2019 champion Christian Eckes.

Love extended his lead in the ARCA Menards Series championship standings, which now stands at 69 points over runner-up Andres Perez.

Top Finishers

Connor Mosack scored his second runner-up finish of 2023, matching his best career finish set earlier this season at Daytona Int’l Speedway.

Perez finished a career-best third after leading 16 laps. Perez rebounded from getting hit from behind on a restart with 15 laps to go, which sent him sideways and into Connor Mosack and then into Dean Thompson.

Thompson finished fourth after earning his first career General Tire Pole Award in qualifying on Friday.

Conner Jones finished fifth, his second top-five result of the season and his fifth finish among the top 10 in five starts.

• Frankie Muniz suffered from electrical issues throughout the day, forcing him behind the wall for 13 laps while the Rette Jones Racing team diagnosed the issue and made repairs. Muniz finished 21st, dropping him to third in the series standings five points out of second.

• Venturini Motorsports had three cars in the top five at the finish, and two more – driven by sixth-place finisher Toni Breidinger and tenth-place finisher Jake Finch – in the top 10.

Team co-owners Bill and Cathy Venturini celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the track on Friday.

• Andy Jankowiak rebounded from losing a lap on pit road to finish seventh, matching his late father Tony Jankowiak’s finish in the 1985 Race of Champions Modified race on the now defunct three-quarter mile oval at Pocono Raceway.

• Cody Coughlin made his second start of 2023 and notched his second top-ten finish of the season in eighth. Coughlin finished seventh in his first start of the season at Kansas Speedway in April.

Christian Rose finished ninth, his sixth top-10 finish in ten starts in 2023.

Both Jon Garrett and Alex Clubb led the Sunset Hill Shooting Range 150, leading laps in the ARCA Menards Series for the first time in their career.

Stephanie Moyer made her second start of the season and scored her career-best finish in 14th, the final driver on the lead lap.

• The next race for the ARCA Menards Series is the Henry Ford Health Systems 200 at Michigan Int’l Speedway on Friday, August 4.
