PORTIMAO, Portugal – Francesco Bagnaia wired the MotoGP field en route to his third victory of the season Sunday at the Algarve Int’l Circuit , handing Ducati the MotoGP Constructors title in the process.
Bagnaia started from the pole and rode untouched throughout most of the race. The race ended prematurely when Iker Lecuona and Miguel Oliveira crashed in turn 13 to bring out the red flag. Both riders were conscious, with Oliveira eventually being taken to a local medical center to be checked out.
With the race already past the three-quarters distance mark, stewards made the call to declare the race official and Bagnaia was awarded the victory as a result.
Joan Mir finished second for Team Suzuki Ecstar, with the second Ducati factory bike ridden by Jack Miller completing the podium in third.
Alex Marquez was fourth for LCR Honda and Johann Zarco took fifth for Pramac Racing.
Fabio Quartararo, who locked up the MotoGP crown at the last event, failed to finish.
