Bagnaia Does The Double In MotoGP

MISANO ADRIATICO, Italy – Fresh off his first MotoGP victory in the last series event, Francesco Bagnaia roared to his second-straight triumph Sunday at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

Bagnaia started from the pole and was in control for much of the race, but he had to survive a challenge from championship leader Fabio Quartararo in the final laps of the race.

Quartararo trimmed Bagnaia’s lead down from several seconds to a few tenths as he closed in to fight for the lead. Try as he might, Quartarro couldn’t get close enough to make the move in the final two laps as Bagnaia held on for his second consecutive victory aboard his Ducati.

Behind them Enea Bastianini finished third to secure his maiden MotoGP podium. Marc Marquez finished a distant fourth, with Jack Miller taking fifith aboard his Ducati.

With his second-straight victory, Bagnaia has closed to within 48 points of Quartararo in the title race.
