Sexton, Plessinger To Lead Red Bull KTM Charge In SMX

Defending AMA Supercross champion Chase Sexton and Aaron Plessinger will lead Red Bull KTM’s charge in the 450SX class during the upcoming SuperMotocross World Championship season.

Sexton, who claimed the 2023 Supercross title, will work to defend his reign aboard the No. 4 KTM steed. This will be his first year campaigning with KTM, as he recently departed Team Honda HRC.

The 24-year-old finished third in the SuperMotocross points standings last season.

“Testing is going well and I’ve enjoyed getting to know everyone more and more on the team, and feel like I’m gelling well with the crew and my new teammates. There’s obviously a level of expectation that comes with heading into 2024 carrying the red plate and I welcome the challenge,” Sexton said.

The Illinois native has seven premier class victories.

Plessinger, who is back for year three with Red Bull KTM, is still in search of his first 450SX win.

However, the Ohio native enjoyed a strong AMA Pro Motocross season — finishing third in the standings — and hopes to build on that momentum during 2024.

“I’m hoping I can finally bag some of those elusive wins this season, that’s the goal for the team and I, and I think it’s achievable with the encouragement and support I receive from everyone in the Red Bull KTM family,” Plessinger noted.

He missed several Supercross rounds due to injury last season.

250SX Lineup

Two-time MX2 champion Tom Vialle is returning for his second year of competition with Red Bull KTM in the 250cc class after concluding 2023 eighth in 250SX East points. He will be joined by 17-year-old Julien Beaumer, who will be making his professional Supercross debut after moving up from the SX Futures class.
