Sexton Flies To The Front During 450SX Qualifying In Detroit

In the final moments of the second qualifying session, Chase Sexton jumped to the top of the leaderboard with a 51.439-second lap time at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich., at round 10 of Monster Energy AMA Supercross.

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jason Anderson put his No. 21 machine in second with a 51.491-second lap time. After earning an emotional win at last week’s race in Indianapolis, H.E.P. Motorsports’ Ken Roczen qualified third.

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Adam Cianciarulo qualified fourth.

In the first week Eli Tomac hasn’t owned the red plate on his No. 1 Star Racing Yamaha, he finished fifth-place overall. Red Bull KTM rider and points leader Cooper Webb was one spot behind him in sixth. Tomac is one point behind Webb in the standings heading into Saturday night’s race.

250SX Overall Qualifying

Honda HRC’s Hunter Lawrence topped qualifying in the 250SX class with a fast lap of 51.999 seconds. Star Racing Yamaha’s Jordon Smith qualified second with a 52.261-second lap time, while teammate Nate Thrasher snuck into third.

Haiden Deegan finished fourth, while Max Anstie rounded out the top five.
