Kevin Swindell hasn’t spent much time running in the USAC National Midget Car Series, but the teenager — and son of open-wheel standout Sammy Swindell looked like a veteran Friday at Toledo Speedway.
Swindell led wire to wire to earn his first USAC victory during the Hemelgarn/Super Fitness Open Wheel Doubleheader 30-lap feature.
Earning the pole after the six-car inversion, Swindell jumped ahead of the 22-car field and fought off numerous pass attempts by fellow teenager Bryan Clauson.
Swindell made it look easy over the opening 11 laps, getting a sizable advantage over the field.
