NASCAR Gives Big Engines More Air 

New carburetor specifications announced by NASCAR will get their first test in the Virginia 500 Winston Cup Grand National at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway April 28.

NASCAR announced two significant rules changes last week on the heels of a major change last

month.

The first part of the latest change, effective April 22, permits use of a 370 cfm carburetor on engines 367 to 430 cubic-inch engines, replacing the 340 cfm.

The conversion of carburetors by NASCAR’s Bill Gazaway and Holley technicians is being achieved by replacing boosters at a unit cost of $12. The conversions began after Sunday’s Gwyn Staley 400 race at North Wilkesboro Speedway.
