Weir Joins Turn 3 Motorsport For USF2000 Attack

MUNDELEIN, Ill. – Christian Weir will join Turn 3 Motorsport for the remaining three rounds of the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship, starting with this weekend’s Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires event at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

After a successful career in local and regional karting championships from age of 11, the 14-year-old has turned his focus to car racing this year with the intent to compete in a full season USF2000 campaign in 2022.

Weir has kept busy building his resume this season with his entry in the Formula Race Promotions Eastern Pro 4 Challenge where he earned two second place finishes in his first event with the series at Mid-Ohio and won the following two rounds at Barber Motorsports Park with Turn 3 Motorsport.

He also participated in the Blue Marble Radical Cup at Road America as part of the NTT IndyCar Series weekend this month where he became the youngest winner in the sports car series, taking all three PRO 1340 class poles and first place in two of the three races.

“I’m very excited to join Turn 3 Motorsport for the last three rounds of the USF2000 championship,” said Weir. “Working with the guys at Turn 3 has given me lots of confidence going into this championship, and I feel like I’m in a good position to progress. So far most of my career has been building me up to the USF2000 series, and I feel ready and strong going into it. The testing I have done has set my goal high for these next rounds at Mid-Ohio, but it’s going to be about gaining experience for me. I hope that I will have lots of battles and be able to experience different situations on the track this weekend.

“My career has been guided by Turn 3 Motorsport for almost its entirety,” continued Weir. “The testing I have done in the USF2000 car has been the most useful, and being able to go on track with my two teammates Josh Green and Dylan Christie has shown me a lot. I’ve been able to see my pace against other drivers which has pushed me to go faster. I’m excited to go racing this weekend.”
