Indy NXT Increases Total Purse For Season

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Continuing its investment in the INDY NXT by Firestone Series, IndyCar announced changes to its purse structure for the development series on Thursday.

The highlights include:

• Total prizes are being increased to $1.4M

• The series champion will receive $850k (an increase of $350k) to be applied to an oval test at Texas Motor Speedway, IMS Open Test/ROP, the Indy 500 and an additional 2024 NTT IndyCar Series event

• The champion will also receive an IndyCar test on the IMS road course

• Additionally, year-end awards for second place ($125k) and third place ($65k) have been increased

• For the first time, the championship team will receive a prize ($35k)

• In 2023, race awards will be for first place ($15k), second place ($5k) and third place ($2,500)

The restructuring is based on feedback from INDY NXT teams following the 2022 season.

This is all a part of a 2023 season that is expected to see 19 entries – the most since 2009.
