INDIANAPOLIS — Alex Palou of Chip Ganassi Racing drove some very aggressive laps in Friday afternoon’s second practice session for the GMR Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
At times, Palou drove his No. 10 Honda through the grass turning the fastest lap times recorded this weekend around the 14-turn, 2.439-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. He completed the session on top of the timing sheet with a fast time of 1:09.9383 seconds.
Christian Lundgaard of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing was second at 1:10.2580 in the No. 45 Hy-Vee Honda.
“The car is quite fast so I’m quite confident for qualifying,” Lundgaard said afterwards. “It feels like grip. The car has been in a good window every time I’m on this track, I was fast here in both races last year and was on the podium. It’s looking better than at any point this season and I’m pretty confident a win tomorrow is a possibility.”
Pato O’Ward of Arrow McLaren was third at 1:10.2804 in the No. 5 Chevrolet with CGR’s Marcus Armstrong fourth at 1:10.3022 in the No. 11 Chevrolet and RLL’s Jack Harvey’s No. 30 Honda at 1:10.3038.
